10 AI coding agents, one honest table (issue #1, Oct 19)
Issue #1 · 2026-10-19
Welcome to the first CodeAgentChart weekly. Each week we cover what changed across AI coding agents, and every fact comes from official sources. You can see every source in the full table.
What changed this week
- Gemini CLI no longer has a free tier for personal Google accounts. Google moved those users to Antigravity CLI in June.
- Cursor's official pricing pages finally match: Free, Plus $8, Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200 a month, with Teams starting at $30 a seat.
- Grok Build is now officially free to try, and it's included in the X Subscription plans (Plus $8 and up).
- Cline added an optional $9.99 a month plan for open-weight models, along with a desktop beta and cloud agents.
- Claude's Max plans now come with monthly API credits.
- Codex has retired GPT-5.5 for ChatGPT sign-in (as of Oct 14).
Free options that still work
- GitHub Copilot Free includes 2,000 completions and 50 chat requests.
- Aider and Cline are free and open source, and you only pay your model provider.
- Codex is included in ChatGPT's Free plan (GPT-6 Luna in the desktop app, subject to rollout).
- Windsurf, now Devin Desktop, has a light free quota.
- Claude Code still isn't on the free Claude plan. It starts with Pro at $20 a month, or $17 a month if you pay yearly.
Pricing at a glance
- Copilot is $10 for Pro, $39 for Pro+ and $100 for Max.
- Devin Desktop is $20 for Pro and $200 for Max.
- GnamiSI Pro is $29 a month, or a limited lifetime deal at $129 USD, once (limited to 100 spots).
